First Chance is offering an activity kit in March to introduce mindfulness for children and babies! The kit has creative and fun ideas to explore ways to be mindful every day as children play, move, read, create, and eat. And perhaps, as you teach your child, you will discover something new for you, too!
What is mindfulness? Being aware, noticing, observing, paying attention, and being present in the moment. Mindfulness can be as simple as taking a walk, breathing, and meditation.
Why is mindfulness important? It calms your mind, relaxes your body, and soothes your worries. Mindfulness helps you understand your feelings and what is around you. It can help a parent and child feel closer to one another, connected to nature, and to be more thankful and loving to others.
You’ll love these simple ways to introduce mindfulness to your little one with the Mindfulness kit:
- Read ABC Mindful Me for mindful activities A to Z!
- Follow a MIndful March calendar with new ideas for every day of the month!
- Paint emotion rocks with a paint set & brush!
- Create a nature mandala or mosaic with craft supplies!
- Make a mindfulness spot with a colorful carpet circle!
- Blow bubbles and explore fun breathing exercises!
- Do a Sunshine meditation with a sun squirt toy!
- Try a sensory snacktime activity with raisins!
