Community Events
Join us to celebrate early childhood
Each year, First Chance for Children holds an array of events for the entire community targeted at celebrating early education, families, and the possibilities that are fostered in childhood. From family fun events to program fundraisers we have something for everyone.
Our Family Leadership Council is organizing a small, sensory-friendly egg hunt event on Friday, March 22 at First Chance for Children (1002 Fay St, Columbia). The event is free and designed for young children ages 0-5 with a need for sensory accommodations. Two time slots are available from 10:00-10:45am and 11:15am-12:00pm. Space is limited to 15 children per session.

Here’s why we’re hosting this event: Parents of children with special needs have shared that it is difficult for their child to participate in egg hunt events due to crowds, noise, mobility differences, and the competitive aspect of collecting eggs. What to expect at this event: Our egg hunt event will be small and sensory-friendly. Only 15 children will participate in each session.
Here is what to expect – If the weather is good, the eggs will be hidden outside on our gated playground. If the weather is not good, the eggs will be hidden inside in the Lend & Learn playroom. Eggs will be placed around our facility for the children to collect. Eggs will be placed where young children with mobility differences can find and collect. Eggs will not be filled, so the number of eggs they collect does not matter. All children will receive a prize bag of items to take home including a book, snack, and activities.
If you would like to contribute items for the prize packs, we have created an Amazon Wish List for donation. Items need to be purchased by Tuesday, March 12. Purchase items on our Sensory-Friendly Egg Hunt Wish List
