February Activity Kit: Care.

The Care Activity Kit shows your child ways to care for you, me, and everybody! Inspired by events in February, we’ve got fun activities and helpful tips to celebrate and learn about Valentine’s Day, National Children’s Dental Health Month, and Black History Month.

What you’ll find inside the Care Activity Kit:

  • Stickers, fingerprint ink pad, heart sticky notes, and more to make your own Valentine’s cards, crafts, and games!
  • Squishy heart friend to squeeze and find comfort!
  • A sweet storybook about kindness!
  • Toothbrush, tooth care tips, a bottle of water & healthy snacks for your teeth!
  • 2 issues of Xplor magazine with nature photos, activities, and more!
  • I am Brave book to read about big change makers in Black history!

Kits are given out on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last. You may pick up an activity kit during our Columbia Lend & Learn Curbside Pick up hours on Tuesdays 9am-11am & Thursdays 1pm-3pm. When you arrive at our office parking lot at 1010 Fay St, text/call Charity (573-340-1341) to bring the activity kit to your car. Kit delivery is also available by request – email Charity QuinnNorthern Boone County Families may pick up a kit during our Northern Boone Diaper Drive Thru on Thursday, Feb 25 from 9-12 am at L&L North 1023 E. The activity kits are free to local families with young children ages 0-5. If this is your first time participating in a First Chance program or activity, fill out our online enrollment form by clicking the button below.

We are now offering a kit download exclusively for Early Childhood Educators to help you engage and empower families with playful, enriching learning activities.This month, we have put together low-cost, fun learning activities that go along with important events in February! You’ll find interactive activities for families, a supply list, a Resource Spotlight, and helpful tips!

Using Play to Teach Diversity and Celebrate Black History

Learn and discuss how to use play and fun activities to teach diversity and celebrate Black History with your children! This event is free and open to parents, caregivers, and educators.

Chat & a Craft

January 29, 2021 10:30-11:30am

Drop into Zoom for fun activities and a chat with staff & parents! Save the Event Bag in the kit to do an activity with other families at the end of each month. Come & go as you need or stay the whole hour!

Toy Set Check-Out

Winter is the perfect time to check out one of our toy sets with toys, activities, games, puzzles, and books to play at home! View the lists of toy sets for baby (0-18 mos) and toddler (1-5 yrs), which include photos and descriptions of what is inside each set. It’s easy to reserve a set – simply contact Charity Quinn about which set you would like to pick up during our weekly curbside hours. Read more

Parent Leadership Month

February is National Parent Leadership Month! We are thankful for parents who are doing amazing work to strengthen their families, help their neighbors, and improve our communities. First Chance is excited to share that we are planning new parent leadership opportunities within our organization by starting a parent advisory group. Keep an eye out this summer for more information!
