National Diaper Awareness Week
Diaper need is a hidden consequence of poverty, affecting 1 in 2 families with young children across the nation. Many caregivers cannot afford the diapers necessary to keep their babies clean, dry, and healthy. This growing public health issue, known as “diaper need,” has far-reaching impacts on the physical, mental, and economic well-being of both babies and caregivers.
National Diaper Need Awareness Week, launched by the National Diaper Bank Network in 2012, is an annual campaign that brings together diaper banks, community members, and local governments to raise awareness and generate sustainable support for diaper bank programs. This year, as we mark the 12th annual National Diaper Need Awareness Week, we are reminded of why this work is so vital.
Here in the U.S., diaper need is a reality for far too many families. We invite our friends, family, and community to join us in supporting our littlest neighbors by hosting diaper drives, making donations, or spreading the word. By participating in National Diaper Need Awareness Week, you are advocating for the health and well-being of families in central Missouri and helping to ensure that every child has access to clean diapers.

First Chance for Children Open House and Ribbon Cutting
Join us for a family-friendly open house at First Chance for Children as our littlest “ambassadors” lead a special ribbon cutting to launch a week of awareness and action around diaper need. Tour our programs, connect with partners, and be part of the movement for change!

The Real Cost of Diaper Need
The feeling you have if you only have one diaper left for your child would be an overwhelming mix of anxiety, urgency, and stress, especially if you have an infant. It’s the moment when a common parenting annoyance becomes an immediate and pressing problem. For many, it’s a stark reminder of the financial burden of diapers, which are not covered by most public assistance programs. Join us on social media to learn more.

Diapers and Drafts: Fill the Truck for Families
In partnership with Logboat Brewing Co., we’re filling a Logboat truck with diapers and we need your help! Bring a package of diapers or make a financial donation, then stick around to enjoy a beer while supporting families in our community. This family-friendly event will feature live music, fun activities for the kids, and plenty of good vibes as we come together to raise awareness about diaper need.

Family Fun Friday
🦸♀️🦸♂️ Grab your capes (or come as you are) and join us at Lend & Learn from 9 AM–1 PM for a day of superhero-sized fun! Families can enjoy hands-on Lend & Learn activities, exciting door prizes, and special take-home gifts. Along the way, you’ll discover how you can be a hero in the fight against diaper need. It’s a family-friendly day of play, learning, and community because every hero, big or small, makes a difference!
