Celebrating 2.5 years as Executive Director of First Chance for Children

As I reach my 2.5-year mark as Executive Director at First Chance for Children, I can finally say my head has stopped spinning. From the moment I jumped in with both feet, I haven’t slowed down. Writing for funding, attending meetings, planning and executing fundraisers, participating in board meetings, making critical decisions, and managing budgets—it’s been a whirlwind. Now, it’s time to take a moment to catch my breath and reflect.

The best part of this journey has undoubtedly been my team. First Chance for Children thrives because of an extraordinary group of nine dedicated individuals. I am incredibly fortunate to work alongside this remarkable team, which is my greatest blessing.

What makes us exceptional?

Clear Goals and Shared Vision: We have a unified vision that aligns with our organization’s priorities. Each team member understands how their work fits into the larger picture and what we need to do to achieve our goals.

Strong Relationships: Our team is built on trust and psychological safety. Everyone feels respected, safe, and connected to one another. This foundation allows us to communicate clearly and openly, thriving on two-way feedback.

Collaboration and Innovation: Nine individuals generate ideas, solve problems, and improve processes day after day. We celebrate success together and recognize each other’s contributions, holding one another accountable. We support each other during personal crises and celebrate together when great things happen.

I can’t think of a better place to be. I encourage you to get to know our team and find that connection. We are passionate about building relationships with the people we serve, and we look forward to developing those connections with you.

Thank you for being part of our journey and for your continued support of First Chance for Children. Together, we are making a difference, one step at a time.

Warm regards,

Gay Litteken
